Akin Building Centers in Creston, IA is looking for a highly motivated and dependable individual to join our team as a Lumberyard/Sales Associate. About the Position
Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with their purchases, answering questions, and offering product recommendations.
Operate a cash register, process payments accurately, and issue appropriate change.
Manage customer transactions efficiently and ensure a smooth checkout process.
Assist in stocking, organizing, and maintaining inventory in the lumberyard and store.
Load and unload materials in a safe and efficient manner.
Keep the store clean, neat, and presentable at all times.
Assist with pricing and labeling merchandise.
Follow safety guidelines and maintain a safe work environment.
Provide support to other team members as needed.
Responsibilities
Load building materials for customers in a safe and timely manner.
Review orders before delivery to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Interact professionally with customers, providing outstanding service and assistance as needed.
Maintain delivery vehicle in a clean and organized condition, reporting any vehicle issues promptly.
Follow all company policies and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to coordinate delivery logistics.
Complete necessary paperwork, such as delivery slips, vehicle inspections, and mileage logs.
Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as checking oil levels and refueling.
Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating company vehicles.
Requirements:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience in delivery driving or a related field is advantageous.
Ability to lift heavy building materials and use equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong time management and organizational abilities.
Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
About You
Prior experience in a customer service or retail environment is preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle cash and operate a cash register.
Basic knowledge or interest in home improvement products.
Ability to lift heavy items and perform physical tasks as necessary.
Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
Dependable and trustworthy.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent.
