Akin Building Centers in Corning, IA is looking for a highly motivated and dependable individual to join our team as a Lumberyard/Sales Associate. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the success of our company while gaining valuable experience in the home improvement industry.
About the Position
Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with their purchases, answering questions, and offering product recommendations.
Operate a cash register, process payments accurately, and issue appropriate change.
Manage customer transactions efficiently and ensure a smooth checkout process.
Assist in stocking, organizing, and maintaining inventory in the lumberyard and store.
Load and unload materials in a safe and efficient manner.
Keep the store clean, neat, and presentable at all times.
Assist with pricing and labeling merchandise.
Follow safety guidelines and maintain a safe work environment.
Provide support to other team members as needed.
About You
Prior experience in a customer service or retail environment is preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle cash and operate a cash register.
Basic knowledge or interest in home improvement products.
Ability to lift heavy items and perform physical tasks as necessary.
Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
Dependable and trustworthy.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent.
